Friday Feature – The Skinny

sts-3+I had the pleasure of having my friend Erinn out to my neck of the woods where the grass is long and the mosquitos are plenty. The fantastic kids I got to photograph didn’t mind the mosquitos and they rocked every outfit Erinn put on them. This woman is brilliant and I do think I need her to dress my kids.

Not only is she a Mom of twins, I love all twin mamas, because I know where they are at! She’s a working mom, and doing a damn good job at it. Here are a few words from Erinn, the owner of

The Skinny

Who are you?

My name is Erinn Trebaczkiewicz, mother to three wild boys, including a set of twins! I also Own + Operate [with a shiny new title of Designer!] of the modern kids shop, The Skinny. My husband is the idea man and my kids are my motivation, but they shape exactly who I am and what I stand for. We’re a pretty great little team.

What does a perfect day look like to you?

A good sleep in [because this mama needs her sleep to operate!], maybe some eggs Benedict and a peppermint latte. Then filled to the brim with activities! We’re a pretty busy household and love to get out and do things! Whether that means we’re sitting at the beach watching the waves roll in or checking out the latest spray park, it all makes for a pretty great day. In my quieter moments, I love curling up in my room with a good book or my newest obsession, cross stitching.

When and how did The Skinny start?

The Skinny started in my head about 6 years before it actually became something more. I always knew that I wanted to do something creative and where I was working at the time, although paid the bills, did not make me happy. I knew I needed something that inspired me. Something that I could create from the ground up and be proud of. Having my oldest son, Jack, was really when things started to change. I was one of the first in my circle of friends with a baby, which at times, lead to some loneliness so I turned to blogging, which then turned more into more of a kids style space than anything else and from there The Skinny was born! I knew I had found a home.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from nature. From colours. From textures and materials. But mostly from kids. When they play, or eat, or sleep. I watch and want to make THEM happy. And what truly keeps me going, is our monthly shoots where I get to see the confidence grow in the kiddos we’re shooting. They feel special. They feel beautiful. You can just see it in them as they progress from the start of the night to where they are at the end. It’s magical. It’s inspiring in itself.

When choosing clothes for your shop, what do you look for?

I look for minimal pieces with a unique twist in each. Whether it’s a unique cut, hem, cuff. Whether it’s in a great pattern. Or super great material. A unexpected colour. I also like things that are unisex, making hand-me-downs more attainable and shopping more affordable. I also tend to pick a colour trend that I’m loving and base items off of that to make a complete collection flow. I like taking a handful of pieces that can be interchanged 10 different ways shaping an entire closet for that season. It’s really all about being cohesive.
